Communications & Notifications
Scout focus
Focus on personal account actions, event signup, and age-appropriate access boundaries.
- Review what can be self-managed versus what requires parent or leader action.
- Check transaction request and event deadline rules before submitting changes.
Communications in TroopForge are driven by product announcements and system notifications tied to real account, event, and payment activity.
This guide explains where each communication channel lives, how notification behavior works, and what each role should enable.
Communication Channels in TroopForge
- What's New is the public product update feed.
- In-app notifications are account-scoped and appear from the bell menu and notifications page.
- Email notifications follow each user's notification preference settings.
Where Communications and Notifications Live in the App
Public Product Updates
- Open News from the footer to reach What's New.
- Announcements are read-only for troop users and sorted by publish date.
- Opening announcements while signed in updates your read timestamp.
Signed-In Notification Surfaces
- Top-nav bell opens the notification dropdown feed.
- Dropdown shows recent items and a See more notifications link.
- Full notification list supports pagination and Mark all as read.
Read Product Announcements (What's New)
- Open footer link News.
- Review entries on the What's New list page.
- Open an item to view full release details and use Back to return.
- If signed in, visiting the announcements section marks announcements as read for your user.
Announcement publishing is handled outside troop user workflows. Leaders, parents, scouts, and treasurers read announcements but do not publish from this interface.

When TroopForge Sends Notifications
Event and Registration Triggers
- Event notifications fire when events are created, changed, cancelled, or when waitlist/deadline conditions apply.
- Registration status notifications are sent on registration status transitions.
Finance and Account Triggers
- Event payment notifications fire on confirmation and stage/deadline balance conditions.
- Account hold/transaction notifications are sent for qualifying balance-affecting actions.
Notifications are generated by system events and filtered by your role plus your channel settings. TroopForge does not currently provide role-authored mass messaging from this page.
